"How to Provide
Exceptional Service With
Little
or No Support Staff"

on how to provide exceptional service,

or no support staff:

Have your business line forwarded to your cell phone. For a nominal charge, most telephone companies can
temporarily forward your primary business line to
a different number. By forwarding
calls from your
main number to your cell phone, you
can remain accessible
and responsive even when
you're far away from your
desk.

Have your voice mail notify you of each message. Many voicemail systems have a notification feature
built in that flashes a light or rings your phone
when you have received a message. Sometimes, these
systems can be programmed to ring your cell phone
to let you know you have a message. Since your cell
phone rings only once, you're not charged airtime
for the call, and upon receiving notification, you
can dial in to your office voicemail as soon as it's
convenient for you.

The low tech solution is simply to check with your
voicemail, answering machine or answering service often, and return calls promptly while
you're away. In an age where even high
school freshmen carry cell phones, there are now very
few good excuses for being out of touch.
